Working with Anita & Vik on styling their wedding was a truly innovative and creative experience. It was an educational one too!! I learned more about Indian wedding culture in the time I worked with Anita & Vivek then I think I'll ever learn... Bring on Colour! With amazing dedication to colour and vibrancy, the mood for Indian wedding celebrations is set with rich, decadent, luxurious vibrancy....
As you an imagine, achieving the opulence a traditional three day long Indian wedding celebration requires is a far more pricey exercise than it is in the Mother Country. Shipping hundreds of metres of fabric definitely assisted in lining the entire roof of the Pavillion and Conservatory of the ceremony and respective reception areas within Gabbinbar Homestead.
But amongst the grandeur of royal purple, deep red and gold combinations the most amazing, never to be forgotten part of Anita & Vik's wedding day were these two moments:
1. Seeing Anita for the first time in her traditional ceremonial outfit. She was breathtaking and I had a new found respect for marriage, culture, love and celebration in a way I never have before.
2. Watching Vik and his ceremonial procession (via golf buggy!)... The colourful powder bombs, tambourines, dancing and amazing costumes really brought home what these culturally injected celebrations were really about - unity.
It was a day I'll never forget.
Congratulations Anita & Vik!
