When asked what it is about wedding planning that I love, my answer is unequivocally, without pause or falter, that the reason why I love wedding planning is based solely upon the emotionally rewarding, uplifting sense of achievement felt on the day of a wedding... Those late nights, long hours behind a computer screen or on the phone, those back and forth negotiations, discussions and conversations with supplier, vendor and bride and groom all come to fruition and in that moment that your bride arrives at her ceremony, it all falls into place.
Steff and Damo approached me in December last year. Having already planned their wedding in Fiji, they had to make a devastating decision to cancel and re-plan the entire wedding in Australia, and this, was too much stress for Steff to bear...
Insert one incredibly detailed, visual and simply beautiful email calling on wedding planning help to us here at Main Event and the rest is history....
I'll never forget Saturday at 3:45pm, precisely 45 minutes AFTER the ceremony was supposed to start, and Steff was about to take her first steps towards the aisle with Granddad in tow. I was filled with emotion, my legs covered with goosebumps and the reality of the situation truly sunk in. This beautiful girl, with her zest for life, her incredibly endearing OCD mannerisms and her simply stunning fiancé were about to finally be married, just as they had hoped, by the beach, with their beloved dogs Bundy & Willow, and 68 of their nearest and dearest friends and family.
So much thought was put into every part of their special day, with Best Man "Bundy", and Maid Of Honour "Willow" factored into every moment... We even made a stunning flower necklace for Willow to wear walking down the aisle, which my super talented florists Michelle & Mary too great delight in creating!!
As Steff & Damo were later welcomed into their wedding reception, she stole a kiss on the cheek from me, and in that moment, I was reminded what it is about this "work" that I love. I love love. I love the joy that fills people's faces when they are surrounded by family and loved ones and I love the absolutely incomparable sense of pride, happiness and selflessness that I feel each and every time.
If your wedding planner isn't in it for love, they aren't the right person for you. These guys rock my world. Thank you for reminding me why I love being a wedding planner, and for giving me beautiful memories through your special day...
Cheers to Steff & Damo
